Any time that the sphincter is damaged or weakened, Acid Reflux is the result. Many medical conditions, medications and even some food and drink can aggravate or may be the cause of the condition. One of the major symptoms following the heartburn is nausea. This can be an Acid Reflux nausea morning symptom or nausea immediately after eating.<span id="more-271"></span></p>
<p><strong>When it Gets Worse</strong><br />Acid Reflux will generally be worse when you are lying down. When you are standing or sitting upright gravity assists with keeping reflux down. However, when you lie down gravity is no longer helping you. Your saliva contains bicarbonate, which helps with the acid. When you sleep you swallow less and so the stomach receives less bicarbonate. The acid builds and when you wake up in the morning you experience nausea as a result of Acid Reflux.</p>
